The price point of being under $2000.00 is an important step for gun safes. In this price range of $1000-$2000 you begin to see USA made gun safes from manufacturers like Fort Knox, Browning, Ironman Safes, and more.
However there are also some great safes in the import safes as well from many other manufacturers.
So the question is? For under $2000 what is the best safe you can buy! Lets take a look:
Please note, this post may be updated as new gun safe models come out during the next year.
5. Browning Hawg HG49
Starting the list off with a Browning is always a good choice. While this may be the least on the list it is a very important addition. The Browning Hawg offers a huge adjustable interior for the price. The fire rating is exceptional at an hour. With this all matched with a 12 gauge steel construction its going to be hard to beat.
What is my favorite feature of this safe? I would say the interior, the Hawg has the cantilever interior (Not Axis). While it may not be as good as the Axis interior, it is still fully adjustable and will allow for any type of rifle to be fit into the notches.
4. Second Amendment 724027
While not a huge name in the industry, Second Amendment has really been pushing out some amazing safes lately. Second Amendment is built by Blue Dot and has an exceptional steel thickness for the price at 12 gauge. While its interior is very similar to the standard layout of most safes, it is functional.
What is my favorite feature of this safe? The Second Amendment 724027 is probably the largest safe you can buy for under $2000, and not only under $2000 but way under. At the time of this writing the manufacturer has it for sale on their site at $1298.00 before delivery and taxes. For that price, a safe that is 72″ H by 40″ W by 27″ D and weighing in at 879 pounds is pretty much unheard of.
3. Ironman 6030
Ironman is a cool smaller safe company that has been making huge strides in bringing affordable USA made gun safes to the industry. This safe in particular (and similar sizes for the next two on this list) is 60″ H by 30″ W. With the cheapest price for an American Made gun safe on this list it brings a great value.
While keeping its good price point, it actually beats out the other two USA made safes on this list at a 2 hour fire rating and 10 gauge steel. Make sure when shopping to check this one out.
What is my favorite feature on this safe? The Ironman safe, while not as well known really hits it out of the park by offering a 10 gauge steel USA made safe for such a good price.
2. Liberty Colonial 23
It will be hard to shop for any price point of safe without running into the Liberty name. However this is for good reason! While getting up into the top range of the $2000 budget it offers an 11 gauge steel construction, Liberty’s new Military Style Locking bars, and a very nice paint style. You definitely will recognize a Liberty when you see one. Shopping for one can be similar to buying a car.
What is my favorite feature on this safe? The main reason I rank this safe above the Ironman 6030 even though the specs are better on the Ironman is how Liberty backs up their customers. If you look through Liberty’s website it is littered with guarantees and warranty information. Also customer testimonials from some big names and unheard of names. Its hard to get past this.
1. Fort Knox Maverick 6031
No list for this price range of safe could be without Fort Knox showing up somewhere on it. The Maverick series of safes start to show up here on the $2000 budget, and the 6031 is the largest you can buy with it. At 11 gauge steel, and much of Fort Knox’s technology for building safes put into this safe its hard to ignore.
What is my favorite feature on this safe? Much like Liberty’s reason, Fort Knox truly backs up their safes with a lifetime warranty, even to the locking mechanism, theft, attempted break-in, flood and more.
