Chemex Urban Dweller Kit: Great Coffee, Two Cups At A Time

Reading Time: 3 minutes //  by Austin

We may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. Thanks for the support!

Chemex is quickly becoming one of my favorites (and is on this list of best coffee makers), and go-to coffee maker and accessory companies now days. Their Urban Dweller is also an awesome kit for those that are just getting started with pour over coffee because it gives you everything you need, but not too much of it.

For the cost of only a little over $60, you get 4 very important items in kit.

1. The Three Cup Classic Chemex

This Chemex offers an up to 16 ounce brew of coffee, which is on the small side for a pour over. This is perfect to learn how to make a great pour over coffee, and is not too much capacity for someone who just wants one cup of coffee.

2. Chemex Filters 100 pack

The Urban Dweller pack also includes a 100 pack of Chemex’s Bonded Filters Unfolded Half Moon. Basically this is one of their smaller filters that will fit the Three Cup Classic perfectly.

3. Glass Mug

This is one of my favorite mugs out right now. The inside of the mug takes the shape of your Chemex, making it all match really well. This mug can contain 10 ounces of fluid, meaning you can get two cups out of your Chemex that comes out of this kit. Yes, I know it’s a Three Cup Chemex, but let’s be honest, we fill our cups.

4. Cork Coasters

The last thing that comes in this kit is the cork coaster! I’m learning more and more over time that coasters are really important, both for taking care of your mug, as well as taking care of your desk or coffee table.

This coaster is made of ⅛” cork, and is 5.75” round.

Competitors to The Three Cup Classic Chemex

Chemex is definitely the original manufacturer of this style of pour over maker, however other companies (as usually happens) will come out with similar products.

Bodum has the most similar product on the market, however you can also look at other standard pour over makers. Companies like Fellow Products, Hario and more have quite a few options that will be similar, but not quite as elegant as the Chemex.

You want to make sure ou get the right accessories for each coffee maker, so make sure you get the right filters if you are going with a different option.

Conclusion

If you really enjoy your automatic coffee maker, and want to branch out into new styles of making coffee, this would be the perfect starter set for most. It gives you everything you need for a relatively inexpensive price.
