It’s not easy to tow a trailer with 30,000 pounds on it. You need a pickup truck with the power and torque to do so! Here are four trucks that can tow 30,000 pounds – we know you will be searching for one of these!
Four major pickup trucks can be great daily drivers and do a massive amount of hauling. That would be the Ram 3500 with 37,090 pounds, the Ford F-350 with 37,000 pounds, the GMC Sierra 3500 with 36,000 pounds, and the Chevrolet Silverado HD 3500 with 36,000 pounds.
|Truck||Max Tow Rating in lbs|
|GMC Sierra 3500||36,000|
|Chevrolet Silverado HD 3500||36,000|
If properly equipped, the Ram 3500 won’t be outdone by the competition, as it can handle up to 37,090 pounds! Yep, that is 90 pounds more than the F-350 has (some severe competition there).
To achieve this rating, you will need to equate the truck with the 6.7 Liter High-Output Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, which has over 1000 pound-feet of torque to move these heavy loads.
Not only is the Ram 3500 extremely capable when it comes to towing, but it also offers many features to make those heavy loads easy to manage.
These features include things like a 360-degree view of not only the truck but also the trailer on the infotainment center.
You will also find things like a digital rear-view mirror that lets you see behind the trailer while driving, trailer tire pressure monitors, and tons of other things that make the Ram 3500 a force to be reckoned with in the towing game. Gone are when you must have a work truck to pull heavy loads.
If you equip your F-350 with the 6.7L engine option, this Ford truck can tow up to 32,500, and the gooseneck version can tow up to 37,000 pounds, making this Super Duty one of the strongest tracks on this list.
Of course, if you want to go all out, you can also upgrade to an F-450 pickup or larger, all of which can handle even more weight! However, the F-350 will be the daily driver that can also take massive amounts of weight in tow.
If you are looking to opt for the F-350 (or bigger), you will be happy to know it also features some excellent towing features! My favorite is the backup assist, which offers a one-hand operation to back up! Just use a knob under the infotainment center and point the knob where you want to go when backing up; the truck does the rest.
The F-350 also offers another excellent feature, the UpFitter switches. These switches allow you to install lighting, winches, and more for your trailers without installing aftermarket switches to the truck.
If you equip a two-wheel-drive GMC Sierra 3500 with a Long Bed, a 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8, and the Max Trailering Package with the Gooseneck hitch, this truck can tow up to 36,000 pounds!
Being able to tow 36,000 pounds with this rig means you need the added features to make pulling it easy. The GMC Sierra HD 3500 offers plenty of cameras to make hauling more manageable, including a hitch view, which points a camera at the hitch to make hooking up your trailer much more straightforward.
Like the GMC Sierra, you can option a Silverado HD 3500 to tow a whopping 36,000 pounds. This is an awe-inspiring feat for a truck that can also handle day-to-day driving around of family.
Of course, this does require a particular configuration, including 2WD, a 6.6L Turbo-Diesel, and a Gooseneck Hitch (among other things). The Silverado also carries many of the remarkable features that the GMC version offers! This means all the cameras make moving that trailer so much easier.

While the Ram 3500 beats the rest of the trucks in the way of capability, my favorite remains the F-Series pickups! Their technology, reputation, and styling take much work to beat. Plenty of highly cool trims like the Tremor Package make it much better.
