There are a lot of pickup trucks on the market these days. And, as you might expect, only some of them have air suspension systems. In this article, we will look at all the pickup trucks that offer air suspension as an option. We’ll discuss the air suspensions and help you decide which suits you best. So, if you’re in the market for a pickup truck with air suspension, keep reading!

So which pickups have air suspension from the factory? The Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 all feature air ride suspension. The Rivian R1T, Hummer EV Pickup, Tesla Cybertruck, and Toyota Tundra are newcomers to this list with either standard or available air ride. While it used to be that only Ram offered air suspension on their pickups, in recent years, electric pickups are starting to feature this type of suspension to help offset the weight of their massive batteries.

The Ram 1500 is one of the most popular pickup trucks. And, for a good reason – it’s a great truck. One thing that makes the Ram 1500 so popular is its optional air suspension system.

The Ram 1500’s air suspension allows you to adjust your ride height depending on what you’re using your truck for. It’s a great pickup truck, and the air suspension is one of many reasons.

This newest generation of pickups also has upped its game by giving one of the best interiors on the market, making it a popular truck for new truck buyers. If you want towing capabilities, there is plenty to offer as well.

The R1T is the smallest pickup on this list, but it is also one of the most capable! It can tow up to 11,000 pounds and reach 60 miles per hour in 3 seconds.

The air suspension on this pickup is not only to help level the pickup during towing or for ride quality, but it also helps this truck get some impressive ground clearance! It can range from 8.8″ at its lowest (to easily access the truck) up to 14.9″ for serious off-road capability.

It finally happened: Tesla released the polarizing Cybertruck onto our roads. Whether it looks like a third grader drew it or has some of the best tech ever to be put into a pickup truck, it comes equipped with air ride suspension.

This helps a ton (quite literally), with being able to tow up to 11,000 pounds and have a payload capacity of 2,500 pounds. Whether you like it, or hate it, it is quite the impressive pickup truck.

If you are looking for the king of the electric pickup truck market, the Hummer EV Pickup will be your choice. Its air suspension works hard; this pickup is over 10,000 pounds GVWR. It can tow up to 7,500 pounds and adjust its ground clearance to 15.9″.

Of course, it also is incredibly luxurious on the inside (it should be for its massive price tag) and has some cool off-road features, including nine different cameras (including one underneath) and the ability to crab walk around obstacles.

With the redesign of the Toyota Tundra (finally) comes a revamp of both the powertrain and suspension of the truck as well. That also means the entrance of a rear air-ride suspension and smoother driving. While this is only the rear (which means it doesn’t lift completely like the Hummer and Rivian), it helps with ride quality and helps with load leveling for trailers when that additional weight is on the rear.

The complete redesign of the Tundra is one of my favorite and most dramatic redesigns of any truck recently, and I am impressed.

6. Ram 2500

The Ram 2500 is another excellent pickup truck from Ram. It’s bigger than the Ram 1500 and has a more extensive air suspension system. The Ram 2500’s air suspension allows you to adjust your ride height and payload capacity, making it the perfect truck for heavy-duty tasks and a smooth daily driver.

If you need a pickup truck that can handle big loads and heavy towing, the Ram 2500 is a great choice. Like its little brother (the Ram 1500), it offers one of the best interiors of any truck today and is a competent truck with towing, hauling, and off-roading.

The Ram 3500 is the largest pickup truck from Ram. It has an even larger air suspension system than the Ram 2500, making it perfect for heavy-duty tasks.

The Ram 3500’s air suspension also allows you to adjust your ride height, making it an excellent choice for drivers who need a comfortable ride. If you’re looking for a pickup truck that can handle big loads and heavy towing, the Ram 3500 is a great choice.

If you do a ton of heavy hauling, you will want to upgrade to the 3500 series! However, if you don’t do this, you might wish for a Ram 2500, as the towing and hauling capability is the only real upgrade.

Why would you want air suspension?

There are many reasons why you want air suspension in your pickup truck. Here are some of the most common reasons:

1. To adjust the ride height, depending on what you’re using your truck for

Air ride suspension generally offers an excellent feature that allows you to raise and lower your ride height. This can be incredibly helpful, as you may want to lower the truck when driving long distances (for the gas mileage). Raising it can help you off-road or escape that pothole in your dirt road.

2. To improve the payload capacity and towing ability of your truck

If you want to tow or haul a lot of weight, then an air-suspension pickup truck might be the way to go. The pickup trucks can adjust their suspension stiffness, which will help them better handle heavy loads. This is especially true for pickup trucks with a lower payload capacity and/or towing ability than other trucks on the market.

3. To get a more comfortable ride, regardless of the terrain

Air suspension pickup trucks offer a much more comfortable ride than traditional ones. This is because they can adjust and soften their suspension, making them much more comfortable pickup trucks.

4. To improve the stability of your truck while driving

Air suspension pickup trucks offer a much more stable ride than traditional ones. They can adjust their suspension stiffness, which makes them much more stable while you are driving, regardless of the terrain. This is especially important when towing or hauling a lot of weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don’t more manufacturers have options for air suspension?

While air suspension is an excellent feature for pickup trucks, it’s unavailable on all pickup trucks. This is likely because it’s more expensive to manufacture pickup trucks with air suspension, and pickup truck manufacturers want to keep the price of their pickup trucks high.

Air Ride has been around less long than the other setups, which is technically less reliable than the alternatives. When it comes down to it, most people don’t NEED air ride suspension in their pickup trucks. But for those that do, it can be a life-changing addition.

Can you buy aftermarket air suspension for other trucks?

Yes, you can buy aftermarket air suspension for other trucks. However, not all trucks come with air suspension as standard equipment. If your truck doesn’t have air suspension, you may be able to install an aftermarket system. Doing so will require some mechanical expertise, but it’s doable if you’re up for the challenge.

How does pickup truck air suspension work?

Pickup truck air suspensions are slightly different from car and SUV air suspensions. Truck air suspensions are designed to be more robust, allowing them to handle heavier loads and bigger payloads.

They also have larger tires and wheels, meaning they need more lift to get the exact ride height of a car or SUV. Pickup truck air suspensions are usually more expensive than car and SUV air suspensions, but they’re also designed to be more durable and perform better under heavy loads.
