These Rhino Metals Vault Doors Are Great [A Review]

Reading Time: 2 minutes //  by Austin

Rhino Metals makes some awesome products like their Ironworks safes, furniture, and home safes!, which is also a reason why they are on my list of best gun safe manufacturers.

But did you know that if for some reason you just can’t fit everything you want in a safe, you can actually buy a vault door from them?

There are two different styles of USA made vault doors available from Rhino! Both styles follow the same styling from their gun safes being a glossy style vault door, and their Ironworks!

Both styles of vault doors also have 4 different sizes of out swing doors, and a single size of inswing doors!

Features

Fire Protection

It is rare to find a vault door that has a fire rating, however Rhino didn’t shy away from this, and instead offers their vault doors with a fire rating.

The Ironworks doors have a whopping 120 minute fire rating at 1400 degrees. This of course also includes an expandable seal to keep out cold smoke.

Meanwhile the standard doors offer a still respectable 90 minute fire rating at the same temp.

What keeps it secure?

Yes, this is what you are all here for!

The Ironworks doors offer a ¼” door frame with an unspecified door steel thickness, however I am going to bet in the 10 gauge steel range.

The standard doors offer a 10 gauge frame, and 12 gauge door steel! Both of these are still a great thickness.

Of course it doesn’t stop with the steel, as they give you a name brand S&G lock, ball bearing drill plate (which breaks drill bits), and even a fancy tempered glass relocker on the Ironworks series.

Conclusion

Rhino has been one of my favorite brands for a really long time, and you really can’t go wrong with their products. They offer a wide range of products that have a great combination of aesthetics and security.

If you are planning on getting a vault door, you should really also think about how you are going to be outfitting the inside of that room it is protecting! I might recommend this SecureIt product?
