The Silverado went through a massive refresh in 2019, however, the ability to utilize CarPlay in one of these vehicles even predated this!
Starting in 2016, you can plug in your iPhone and be able to reflect your phone up onto your infotainment center.
This pickup is well known for its controversial design, quality build, and is a great overall pickup truck. This is compounded by the usability that is offered with CarPlay.
It should be mentioned, this software is not only available in the 1500 series Silverado, but is also in the HD series (2500, 3500).
Hint hint: If you want a pickup with a Diesel engine and CarPlay, this is one of them.
2. Ford F-150 & Super Duty (2017 – Current)
Ford makes an awesome product, with an extremely wide range of capabilities. If you want off-road, you can have the Tremor.
Want luxury? You can buy the Limited. There is something for anyone with this best-selling pickup truck (and the Super Duty).
This all becomes that much more cohesive when you add Apple CarPlay to the mix! This software is included in F-150 and Super Duty pickups as long as you are looking at a truck from 2017 and after (don’t expect it before then).
3. Ford Maverick (2022 – Current)
Not to be outdone by its larger counterpart, the F-150, the smaller Ford Maverick also has CarPlay available as an option!
This is a brand new pickup truck that was just released in late 2021 and is one of the few new trucks that is based on a crossover or car platform
This little pickup not only offers pickup utility, it gives car comfort and SUV sizing.
It is the best of both worlds. And with CarPlay available from the factory, it gives you one less thing to worry about.
Can you add CarPlay to other trucks that don’t show on this list? One of the best ways to add CarPlay to a vehicle that doesn’t have it, is to purchase a new head unit! You should take a look at the options here and consult and expert to have it installed.
4. GMC Canyon (2016 – Current)
The GMC Canyon is a close relative to the Chevrolet Colorado. They are very similar in design, build quality, and overall feel. The Canyon does have some unique features that help it stand out from its Chevy counterpart
One of those features is the ability to get apple CarPlay right from the factory! This has been an option on the Canyon since 2016 and is a great addition to an already great truck.
5. GMC Sierra (2016 – Current)
The GMC Sierra is very similar to the Silverado, which should come as no surprise. These two tracks share a lot in common, including the ability to get apple CarPlay from the factory.
The Sierra has been around for a long time and has undergone many different iterations. The current model is a great truck that offers a lot of features and capabilities. CarPlay is just one more thing that makes this truck great.
6. Hyundai Santa Cruz (2022 – Current)
The Santa Cruz is a brand new pickup truck from Hyundai that was just released in late 2021. This truck is based on the Hyundai Tucson SUV and offers a unique blend of crossover and pickup utility.
One of the best things about this truck is that it comes with Apple CarPlay standard! That’s right, you don’t have to pay any extra to get this great feature. This is a great addition to an already great truck.
This is the other small pickup based on a car platform, and competes directly with the Ford Maverick we talked about earlier.
7. Jeep Gladiator (2020 – Current)
The Jeep Gladiator is a great pickup truck (that can also be flat-towed) that offers a lot of capability and off-road prowess.
This truck is based on the Jeep Wrangler and shares a lot of its DNA with that iconic SUV.
One of the best things about the Gladiator is that it comes with Apple CarPlay standard!
Whether you are keeping your Gladitor on the road, or taking it into the depths of the desert to rock crawl, you know you can utilize CarPlay while doing it.
8. Nissan Titan (2019 – Current)
The Nissan Titan is a great pickup truck that offers a lot of capability and features. This truck has been around for a while and has undergone many different iterations. The current model is a great truck that offers a lot of features and capabilities. CarPlay is just one more thing that makes this truck great.
The Titan has been available with CarPlay since 2019 and is a great addition to an already great truck. Whether you are using CarPlay for navigation, music, or just to stay connected, it is a great addition to an already great truck.
9. Nissan Frontier (2022 – Current)
The Nissan Frontier was getting old and outdated, and that included the exclusion of CarPlay. However, with the complete revamp and redesign of the Frontier for the 2022 year, you can now get this feature in your truck!
10. Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 & 4500 (2018 – Current)
The Ram pickup truck lineup is one of the most popular on the market. They offer a wide range of trucks that are capable of just about anything you could need or want. And with the addition of CarPlay, they are even better!
Ram has offered CarPlay in their trucks since 2018 and it is a great addition to an already great truck. This feature is accented by one of my personal (and many others) favorite interiors of any pickup on the market today.
You can get this phone-enabled feature on their complete Ram lineup, being 1500, 2500, 3500, and even the massive 4500.
11. Toyota Tacoma (2020 – Current)
The current generation of Tacoma has been around for a long, long while. However, it wasn’t until the 2020 year that Tacoma became capable of this feature. You can finally now get CarPlay on one of the most reliable small pickup trucks on the road today.
The Tacoma has been a best seller in its class for many years now, and with the addition of CarPlay, it is sure to continue that trend. This great pickup truck offers a lot of capability and features, and CarPlay is just one more thing that makes this truck great.
12. Toyota Tundra (2020 – Current)
The Tundra is Toyota’s full-size pickup truck offering. This great truck offers a lot of capability and features that make it a great choice for those in need of a full-size pickup.
CarPlay is just one more feature that makes this already great truck even better.
Tundra has offered CarPlay since 2020, and with the complete redesign for the 2022 year, it continues to offer it as well!
The last generation of this pickup was known for its reliability, and some even made it to the million-mile mark with little issues (which is one reason why they are worth so much), and hopefully, this new generation will be the same.
13. Volkswagon Amarok (2016 – Current)
This pickup may not be sold in the USA right now, however, it was one of the only other pickups that I could find that offered the CarPlay feature on it! The Amarok has featured the CarPlay feature since 2016 and is a great pickup truck.
What can you control with Apple CarPlay in your pickup?
Just about everything! With Apple CarPlay you can control music, navigation, messaging, and even use some of your favorite apps right from your pickup truck’s infotainment system. CarPlay is a great addition to any pickup truck.
Pros & Cons of Apple CarPlay
Now that we’ve gone over some of the pickup trucks that offer apple CarPlay, let’s discuss some of the pros and cons of this feature.
One of the biggest pros of CarPlay is the ability to use your iPhone’s maps app to get turn-by-turn directions. This is a huge advantage over the built-in navigation systems in most trucks, which can be very inaccurate and outdated.
Another big pro is the ability to control your music with CarPlay. You can use apps like Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music to play your favorite tunes while you’re on the road.
A few of the cons of CarPlay are that it can be slow to start up, and sometimes it can be glitchy. Additionally, not all apps are available on CarPlay, so you may not be able to use your favorite app while you’re driving.
Overall, Apple CarPlay is a great addition to any pickup truck. It gives you the ability to use your iPhone safely and conveniently while you’re on the road. If you’re looking for a new pickup truck, be sure to check out some of the models that we listed above!
