What are the main features of the Charge 20 PD?

1. Multiple Charging Options with Fast Charge

Not only does the Charge 20 PD come with three different ports (2 USB-A, and 1 USB-C), but you can use each one at the same time. That means you could charge your headlamp, phone, and another device all at the same time. This of course includes more modern devices that utilize USB-C, which is something not all competitors to the Charge 20 PD can say.

2. Large capacity for the size

Now, the BioLite Charge 20 PD is not a huge unit, at only 0.6″ high by 3.0″ wide and 5.0″ Deep, however, its 6000 mAh is quite impressive. They state that this can charge a standard cell phone up to 1.5 times. Many phones have about a 2800 mAh battery, so this makes sense with a bit of loss during the transfer of power.

3. Portable design

At such a compact size, and design, the Charge 20 PD is easy to put into most pockets. This includes coat pockets, camera bags, backpacks, and more. While many other charge packs like this are round shape or square shape, the benefit of this charge pack design is that it can easily be put anywhere something like a wallet can be.

What do I like about it?

1. Holds up to its promises

This is an extremely simple product! It works well, does what it says it does, and holds up on quality and styling regarding its price point. It is quite common in the charge pack industry to make a lot of promises, and have fancy styling, but not be able to hold a charge, which wastes your money. BioLite is not about that, and this device holds up to its promises.

2. I like its styling

I like the yellowish/orange colors on the top of the unit, and the faux carbon fiber body. It looks cool and has a grippy, tactile feel that makes it easy to hold onto. There isn’t much to add to this, other than that I like the way it looks.

3. Multiple charge ports to use

So many charge packs will only allow you to charge one device at a time, and it has to be USB-A at that (slower charging). The Charge 20 PD offers two USB-A ports and one USB-C charge port. Each of these can be used on its own, or you can charge using all three ports at the same time. Of course, this splits its capacity three ways, but at least you have that choice.

What do I not like about it?

1. Doesn’t push the industry ahead

I do my best in reviews to always point out something that I don’t like about a product, just so you (the reader) can be aware of anything. That said, there aren’t any specific features to point out as an issue. This is an extremely simple product, that does everything as advertised, and outside of that, it is what it is.

That said, I do wish that this little charge pack would have pushed the industry forward a bit in usability. It could have included some other features like lighting, alternative ways to charge, etc. However, all of these features would have driven up costs, so it’s up to you to decide how important things like that are to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does “PD” mean on chargers?

Power Delivery, or “PD,” is a technology used in some phone and computer chargers. It allows devices to charge at higher voltages than typical USB charging would allow. This means that PD charging can provide faster-charging speeds over other methods while remaining safe and reliable due to advanced protection measures. In addition, this type of charger will automatically adjust its power output depending on the device it’s being used with, allowing users to get the most out of their charged devices. PD chargers are becoming increasingly popular as more products adopt this technology, with many chargers now coming standard with Power Delivery built-in.

How do you charge a BioLite battery?

Charging a BioLite battery is easy. To get started, connect the battery to a USB power source – such as a laptop computer, wall charger, or solar panel – with the included standard USB cable. Once connected, charging kicks off; it typically takes 4-6 hours to fully charge the battery. It’s important to note that while you can use any kind of USB power source, different sources vary in charging time. For example, charging with a laptop computer may take longer than with a solar panel. When your BioLite battery has finished charging, simply turn off the power source and disconnect it from the battery. You’re now ready to power your device!

How long does it take to charge a phone with BioLite?

You can easily charge your phone in about 2 hours with a BioLite Charge 20 PD. With an output of around 1000 mAh, you will see your phone at around 50% at 1 hour, and around 100% by two hours.

Conclusion

The BioLite Charge 20 PD is a straightforward product. It does everything as advertised, and looks good while doing it. It has a nice capacity for the size of the unit, multiple ports to charge your devices, and can be easily carried around in most pockets. If you are looking for a simple, no-frills charge pack that has great capacity, this is the one to get.

The main competition for the Charge 20 PD would be other similarly sized charge packs from companies such as Anker and mophie. Each of these competitors offers its own take on similar products, so make sure you check out all of your options before making your decision. Ultimately, it
