Liberty Gun Safes vs Cannon Gun Safes: Which One Is Better?

Gun safes are a necessary purchase for any gun owner. Not only do they keep your firearms safe and secure, but they can also provide you with peace of mind knowing that your guns are protected from theft or damage. When it comes to gun safes, there are two brands that stand out as popular options: Liberty Gun Safes and Cannon Gun Safes. So, which one is better? In this article, we will compare the two brands and see which one comes out on top!

What is a Liberty Gun Safe?

Liberty Safes is one of, if not the largest manufacturers of gun safes in America today. All of their gun-safe models are built right here in the USA. They cater heavily to the mid-to-high-end gun safe range with their safes that have plenty of steel, and security features to back it up.

Their entry-level gun safe is the Centurion Series which offers 14 gauge steel, a 30-minute fire rating, and an optional electronic or mechanical lock.

This safe is just the beginning as you can purchase a safe from Liberty called the Presidential that is over 1000 pounds, a 2.5-hour fire rating, an industry leading GX-480 Monster Mech locking mechanism, re-lockers, and extremely thick steel.

You can also buy any safe of quality in between with the USA series, Colonial, and Lincoln.

One of Liberty’s best offerings is the Liberty Fatboy JR. This large safe offers a great bang for the buck, as it offers a huge capacity, a great fire rating, and more for a reasonable price.

What is a Cannon Gun Safe?

Cannon safes have been making these giant steel boxes for a very, very long time! In the past they were known for their high-end gun safes, offering an array of high quality, high strength steel options safes. Nowadays, Cannon has shifted to cater to the more budget-minded crowd and is more commonly found in the big box retailer stores.

This by no means is a bad thing, as not everyone needs, or can afford what they used to sell, and it was time for their business to shift to that lower price point to help their customers.

As of this writing, Cannon is selling quite a few different variants of safes! These series of safes range heavily from their upper-end safes to their lower-end safes and are named the: DU Series, CS Series, Shield Series, Executive, Cannon, Heartland, Landmark, Force, CN Series, Commander, Armory series.

Cannon may no longer sell their high-end safes of the past, however, their budget-minded safes of today offer a compelling safe at a great price.

My safe of their roundup is the Cannon 80. This safe is a massive 50″ wide safe that is rated at an 80 gun capacity, and a fire rating of 75 minutes. All of this can be purchased for well under $2000.

Which one is better than the other?

Liberty gun safes excel in that mid-to-high level gun safes (kind alike Browning), and their USA series and above offer some really great benefits from awesome companies. If this sounds like something you are looking for, I would definitely recommend buying from them.

However, if you are looking for an entry-level safe to keep you and your family safe from basic smash and grabs, then Cannon is going to be your better bet. I would recommend spending the same amount on the imported Cannon safe with more safety features, than spending the same amount on a lesser safe that is made in the USA (which is the Centurion).

Liberty has been in business since 1988, however, has gone through a variety of ownerships since then. They have stuck to their high-quality products through it all though.

Conclusion

When it comes to Liberty Gun Safes vs Cannon Gun Safes, which one is better? It really depends on what you are looking for! If you are wanting a high-end safe with all the bells and whistles, then Liberty is going to be your best bet. However, if you are just starting out or don’t have a large budget, Cannon has some great options for you!
